She has assisted a wide variety of families, individuals and organizations and genuinely believes that her corporate clients can operate highly successful businesses while still being mindful of people and the planet.
As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Paula has many years of experience in the accounting profession, both in private industry and in public practice. She has served in a variety of roles, including CFO, Corporate Controller, Vice President of Finance & Operations, and Director of Finance. She earned the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation through a combination of extensive tax experience and comprehensive knowledge of financial services. She is licensed as a CPA in both California and Arizona, and holds Series 7 and Series 66 securities and advisory licenses.
Paula earned a Ph.D. in Human & Organization Development, an MBA in Finance, an MS in Organizational Behavior & Development, an MA in Human & Organizational Systems, and a BS in Business Administration & Management with an Accounting concentration. Her doctoral research involved good corporate citizenship and the triple bottom line of sustainability.
Paula was vetted and selected for the Forbes Finance Council by a review committee based on the depth and diversity of her experience. Criteria for acceptance include a track record of successfully impacting business growth metrics, as well as personal and professional achievements and honors. Paula is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the California Society of CPAs (CALCPA). She serves as a volunteer with Silicon Valley SCORE, a non-profit organization and resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration, which provides free and confidential small business advice for entrepreneurs. She has also taught many finance and accounting courses in MBA programs at local colleges. In her spare time, she enjoys spending the day at the ball park cheering on the San Francisco Giants and playing with her young granddaughters.
